Police suspect role of local boys; case registered, probe on

A 20-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by unidentified men in north-west Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, the police said on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Kailash, a resident of Bhalswa, hailed from Uttar Pradesh.

The incident happened on Thursday around 10.30 p.m. Some unidentified men opened fire at the victim, who sustained bullet injuries on his head, the police said.

Kailash was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors, a senior police officer also said.

A case has been registered and the matter is being probed, Vijayanta Arya, DCP (North-West) said.

The police suspect the role of local boys in the matter and are questioning them in connection with the case, she said. Footage from CCTV installed in the area are being scanned to identify the accused and know the sequence of event, she also said. The police have ruled out the possibility of a robbery bid.
