Two employees of the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) were shot at in Manesar on Tuesday while measuring a piece of land, which is under CBI investigation.
HSIIDC patwari Ishwar Singh was declared brought dead at the hospital.
The police said 52-year-old Ishwar had gone to measure the land adjacent to Manesar Sector 1 around 2 p.m. with a staff member when the attack took place.
The patwari was sitting inside his official vehicle when two men on a bike accosted the driver and enquired about some officer.When the driver told them that Ishwar was also an officer, the accused shot at both of them.
Ishwar was shot in the temple and stomach while the driver sustained a bullet injury in the arm.
Gurugram police spokesperson Subhash Boken said that the land belongs to the HSIIDC but the villagers had laid claim to it leading to a dispute. He said that there were three assailants, who are suspected of belonging to the village.
A case has been registered but no arrests have been made so far.
