2 held for stealing vehicles to fund family trips

Ten stolen motorcycles recovered

Two men who used to steal vehicles to fund family trips were arrested on Monday, the police said on Tuesday. Ten stolen motorcycles were recovered from the possession of the vehicle thieves.

The two men were identified as Sudhir (24) and Dinesh (27), both school dropouts and residents of Sultanpuri. The police said that both are drug addicts and they used to steal vehicles to procure drugs and fulfil family needs.

Additional DCP (Outer), Rajendra Singh Sagar said the two accused used to recce the area in the afternoon and set their targets. “They would return at night to steal the targeted vehicles that were then sold to passers-by at higher prices,” Mr. Sagar said.

A police team laid a trap near Ganda Nala in Sultanpuri on Monday evening after receiving a tip-off that the accused would visit the area. “The two men were spotted and overpowered by the police as they attempted to flee. A two-wheeler was recovered from them that they had stolen from Aman Vihar” said Mr. Sagar.

The police said that he accused had planned a theft to sponsor a family trip to Darjeeling.
