2 held for cheating during SSC exam

One was impersonating candidate; second had a phone on him

Two persons have been arrested for allegedly cheating during a Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) examination in north-east Delhi’s Wazirabad on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) Atul Kumar Thakur said the accused have been identified as Parveen Kumar, a resident of Haryana’s Sonipat, and Rajat Yadav, a resident of Haryana’s Hisar.

The police said the duo was caught during the pre-examination check of candidates by invigilators.

“Parveen was appearing for the exam in place of one Anil. He was caught before the question papers were distributed. Rajat was trying to use his mobile and an electronic device hidden in his clothes,” Mr. Thakur said.

The invigilator, Assistant Sub-Inspector Shiv Pal, took both the accused to Sonia Vihar police station, where two cases under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code were registered.

Both men have been arrested.
