10 new swine flu cases reported

A 19-month-old child from Freedom Fighter’s Enclave is among the 10 new swine flu cases reported in the Capital on Tuesday.

Four persons have already died due to the infection since the beginning of this year and the total number of cases stand at 50.

Charan Singh, additional director in charge of Public Health, said: “Last year, we had 38 cases and no deaths. In 2013, Delhi reported 1,511 cases and 16 deaths. The worst was in 2009 and 2010 when the total number of cases crossed several thousands.”

‘Situation being monitored’

“The Health Department is carefully monitoring the situation and staff of all the 22 designated hospitals, including five private hospitals, have been trained to treat swine flu cases,’’ he added.
