Youth Awakening Day celebrated

Rallies were organised by school and higher education departments to celebrate Youth Awakening Day on Thursday.

Competitions on elocution and essay writing, and an exhibition of scientific models marked the celebration.

District Collector S. Prabakar, and Chief Educational Officer led the rally by school students from Government Girls' Higher Secondary School to Government Headquarters Hospital.

The Collector took part in a rally that started from VOC Park and culminated at Chikkiah Naicker College. Students of CNC, Vellalar College, Vasavi College, and Erode Arts and Science College took part in the rally.

Nandha Group of Institutions provided 5,000 saplings to the public to mark the occasion, under the aegis of its Human Resource wing Manitham, at three locations in Erode and one at Perundurai.

The saplings were handed over by the Chairperson of Nandha Educational Trust V. Shanmugan, near Periyar Statue, Kalai Maadu Statue Junction; Paneerselvam Park Junction in Erode; Old Bus Stand Traffic Island; and Toll Gate in Perundurai.

A rally by students was organised by the NSS unit of M.P. Nachimuthu M. Jaganathan Engineering College at Chennimalai. Students displayed portraits of the late President and expressed resolve to strive for the Nation’s progress. A rally was taken out by students of Gobi Arts and Science College.

Confederation of Indian Industry’s Young Indians celebrated the day at Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, with its programe ‘Visioning for India’ addressed by Stalin Gunasekaran, president of Makkal Sinthanai Peravai.

At the Erode Sengunthar Engineering College, students listened to talks on how the late President inspired the current generation of youngsters as a role model.
