A youth, who threatened to upload the picture of a girl in social media that led to her committing suicide, was arrested by the police here.
The police said that Nandakumar (21) of Kodumudi, who claimed friend of the girl, who had written her SSLC examination, took a selfie and threatened her of morphing the picture and posting it in the social media. Upset over it, the girl committed self-immolation at her house on Monday. The body was taken to the Government Hospital at Kodumudi and autopsy done.
Based on a complaint, the police registered a case under Section 11 (v) (threatens to use, in any form of media, a real or fabricated depiction through electronic, film or digital in any other mode, of any part of the body of the child or the involvement of the child in a sexual act) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences, Act, 2012 and arrested Nandakumar. He was produced in the court and lodged at prison.
