A 40-year-old woman who impersonated as sub-inspector of police and threatened the staff of a primary health centre (PHC) at Alanganatham village was arrested by the Namakkal All Woman Police on Thursday.

The woman Vimaladevi of Navaladiankoil near Mohanur

threatened Anis Fathima Begum, a nurse, stating that she had come to make an inquiry following receipt of complaint of malpractices at the PHC and demanded money.

The nurse took her to the duty doctor Thilagavathi. When Vimaladevi did not produce the identy card and indulged in arguments, Dr. Thilagavathi grew suspicious and forcibly locked her in a room with the help of other staff.

On receipt of information, a police team from Erumapatti police station rushed to the PHC and investigations revealed that she was a fake SI of Police. She was handed over to the Namakkal All Women Police station and taken into custody.
