A woman and her daughter were run over by a sewerage tanker on the Denkanikottai Road in Hosur on Monday morning.
The victims were identified as Sundaralakshmi (48) and her daughter R. Manju Subhashini (15).
The accident took place while they were on their way to a private matriculation school on a moped in the morning. The woman, in order to avert hitting a lorry which stopped abruptly on the middle of the road, applied sudden brakes. In the impact, the moped skidded and they fell on the right side of the road.
A sewerage tanker coming from the opposite direction ran over the woman and daughter, killing them on the spot.
According to Hosur Town Inspector S. Gnanasekar, the bodies were taken to the nearby Hosur Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Hosur Town Police have registered a case under section 304 (A) of IPC and a search has been launched to nab the driver of the tanker.
