Water level touches 103 ft. in Bhavani Sagar Reservoir

With inflow at Bhavani Sagar Reservoir being 13,513 cusecs on Friday morning, water level touched 103 feet in the evening.

Following heavy rain in its catchment areas, the inflow that was 4,005 cusecs at 8 a.m. on Thursday increased to 15,600 cusecs at 2 p.m.

Since the maximum storage level permitted in October was 102 feet against the capacity of 105 feet, the discharge was stepped up to 15,600 cusecs. At 4 p.m. on Friday, the inflow was 11,232 cusecs while the discharge was 1,500 cusecs in the Lower Bhavani Project canal and 600 cusecs in the Arakankottai – Thadapalli channels.

The water level stood at 103 feet while the storage was 31.131 tmc against the capacity of 32.800 tmc. Public Works Department officials said that as per flood regulation, water would be stored till 105 feet in November.
