July 06, 2019 11:45 pm | Updated 11:45 pm IST - COIMBATORE:

The National Textile Corporation (NTC) management will increase the basic pay for each permanent worker by ₹400 and the Dearness Allowance will be revised based on the Consumer Price Index 1935-36 series.

It has also agreed to enhance the house rent allowance to ₹610 per month for eligible permanent workers.

An agreement for this was signed between the unions and the management in Madurai on Friday. About 2,000 workers of the seven NTC mills in the State are expected to benefit.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between some of the unions and the management in February this year.

In persuasion of the MoU, conciliatory proceedings were held before the Regional Labour Commissioner (Central) and a tripartite agreement was signed on Friday.
