Following repeated representation from the public and a spike in the number of crimes, Coimbatore Rural Police have resolved to strengthen Sulur police station.

The station is having sanctioned strength of 20 persons, including an inspector and three sub-inspectors. An additional strength of 10 persons from the Armed Reserve have been deployed for the station. Also, the DSP of Karumathampatty sub-division has been asked to divert the strength from other stations in its limits to aid the patrols in Sulur station limits.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Pa. Moorthy said that 15 patrol beats have been created in the limits of Sulur station.

“Apart from creating the 15 beats, members of Friends of Police will assist the policemen during patrols. The number of beats will be increased to 17,” said Mr. Moorthy.

Of late, limits of Sulur police witnessed an increase in the number of property offences like chain snatching and housebreak.
