Vehicle supporting nuke plant reach city

A vehicle highlighting the need and importance of commissioning the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant arrived here from Salem on Monday. A team led by Sathyaseeelan, lawyer, under the banner People in Support of Kudankulam, has organised the awareness campaign. It was accorded a reception at Sungam round-about in the city.

The van carries a miniature of the nuclear power plant explaining its salient features, and safety measures undertaken. The van began its journey from Chennai on February 11. Congress president A.R. Chinnaiyan, former Mayor R. Venkatachalam, former MLA M.N. Kandasamy, Thara Shafi, Irugur Subramanian, Venus Mani, and KPS Mani attended the programme to accord reception to the vehicle.

The van will wind its way to Dindigul through Pollachi and Udumalpet.
