Vans transporting cattle seized

Thuraiyur Police have seized five vans that were used to illegally transport cattle and are questioning as many drivers in this connection, said a release from the Akila Bharata Hindu Maha Sabha.

The release said that P. Senthil of the Hindu outfit spotted the vans at the Perambalur Bypass Road, blocked the vans and then informed the police, who registered a case and rescued 165 buffaloes.

Identified

They identified the van drivers as Seenu, Samy, Gopal, Ram and Narayanan.

The van drivers said that they were ferrying the cattle from Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Kerala, it added.
