Urban local body polls: Coimbatore sees around 40 per cent polling as of 3 p.m.

Polling was largely incident-free; voters from Kuppuchipalayam in Namakkal boycotted voting after their votes were shifted to a different booth

As of 3 p.m., Coimbatore City polled 40.39% votes in the urban local body polls on Saturday.

In the Nilgiris, 47.48 per cent of voters cast their votes till 3 p.m. Around 52 percent of voters cast their votes in wards in municipalities and 44 percent of voters in 11 town panchayats have cast their vote so far.

Erode district reported a voter turnout of 54.86% till 3 p.m. in the urban local body polls. The turnout in the Corporation was 46.14%, municipalities 58.68% and Town Panchayats 63.35%. Polling was largely peaceful across the district as voters continued to exercise their franchise.

56.37% of votes were polled till 3 p.m. in Salem. Till 3 p.m., 49.07% was polled in the Salem Corporation limits. No major issues were reported during polling at Salem.

Voters from Kuppuchipalayam boycott voting

In Namakkal, 64.19% of votes were polled by 3 p.m.. Voters from Kuppuchipalayam from Paramathi Velur town panchayat boycotted voting after their votes were shifted to a different booth.

Krishnagiri polled 52.61 per cent and Dharmapuri polled 65.68 per cent of votes at 3 p.m.
