The Assistant Director of Erode Local Planning Authority (LPA) and the surveyor were caught red-handed by the sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) while accepting ₹2.25 lakh bribe at their office in Surampatti here on Wednesday.

Yuvaraj of Moideen Street approached the office seeking approval for his plots. K. Elango, Member Secretary in-charge and Assistant Director, surveyor Moorthy and draftsman Sathish sought ₹2.50 lakh for giving the approval. Yuvaraj said that he would pay ₹2.25 lakh.

Later, Yuvaraj alerted the DVAC sleuths who laid the trap.

On Wednesday, when Yuvaraj handed over the money to Elango and Moorthy, sleuths caught them red-handed. They were taken to the office and inquiry is on.

However, Sathish, who also demanded the money, was on leave on Wednesday.
