Two children reported missing

Saravanampatty police have registered a case regarding the disappearance of two children from a children's home in Ganapathy.

The police said that the complainant Jose Stephen Mani, the home's caretaker, told them that Ameer Bardan and Sumeer Bardan, sons of Bethra Bardan of Orissa, left the home on September 7 and did not return.

Boy drowns

Jothi, 14, son of Karuppaiah of Cheran Nagar drowned in a water body in the locality there when he was playing along its banks on Tuesday. He got caught in the slush and drowned as he did not know swimming, said Kuniamuthur police.

Training

Canine sleuths (sniffers and trackers) from 10 districts are in Coimbatore, undergoing memory enhancement training.

The canines along with their handlers arrived in the city on Tuesday for a training under a team led by Sub Inspector Soundararajan.

The canines' skills in identifying explosives, drugs, locating people under rubble, tracking accused would be fine-tuned. The training is expected to go on for a month.
