TPDK cadre stage demo

August 04, 2018 01:18 am | Updated 01:18 am IST - COIMBATORE

The cadre of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) on Friday staged a demonstration in the city condemning the State Government’s decision to transfer all idol theft cases to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

State general secretary of the party K. Ramakrishnan urged the government to appoint a serving High Court judge to probe the cases, instead of handing it over to CBI.

He alleged that the State Government, in connivance with Inspector General of Police Pon Manickavel, was trying to cover up the issue. Even though thousands of statues were said to be stolen from temples, not even a single priest was arrested so far, Mr. Ramakrishnan said. Over 25 cadre took part in the demonstration.
