Todas in Kodanadu block road demanding water

May 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - COIMBATORE:

People living in three tribal hamlets at Kodanadu resorted to a road blockade at Babukal Mund on the Kodanadu to Kothagiri Road – near an estate where Chief Minister Jayalalithaa used to stay – on Monday evening, seeking drinking water.

Close to 35 families live in the three Toda hamlets.

The protestors said that they did not get drinking water for more than a week as a motor that pumps water to their hamlets – Babukal Mund, Thenkad Mund and Bankad Mund – from a well located at Kodanadu became faulty.

They cleared the road after the official concerned assured to make necessary arrangements to restore water supply without delay.
