Three booked for failing to ensure safety of construction workers

Perur police registered a case against three persons on charges of failing to provide adequate safety measures due to which seven labourers at a construction site on the Aavin premises at Pachapalayam near Perur were injured. The labourers, including two women, suffered injuries when the temporary scaffolding on which they were standing collapsed on Saturday.

The victims P. Manimaran (45) of Chinna Salem, his son M. Pandian (22), S. Geetha (30) and K. Vadivel (28) of Kulathupalayam, D. Pitchai (65) of Tiruchi, R. Devi (22) and S. Sathishkumar (22) suffered fractures and injuries on their head for which they are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. They are said to be out of danger. Based on a complaint lodged by one of the victims, the police registered a case against the building contractor Sureshkumar and two others N. Arunkumar (33) of Namakkal and C. Muthuramalingam (38) of Cuddalore District under sections 337 (for causing hurt by act endangering life or safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code.
