The Hindu-SilkAir travel expo begins

The three-day event is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; entry is free

The three-day SilkAir Travel Expo presented by The Hindu Group began here on Friday.

M. Periasamy, Joint Commissioner GST, Coimbatore, and Chue Saio Seong, manager of SilkAir in Coimbatore, inaugurated the exhibition.

The event featuring the entire network of SilkAir and Singapore Airlines is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. till Sunday. Entry is free. People from all walks of life are visiting the exhibition in good numbers.

V. Venkat (25), sales manager, Pricol Limited, was there to enquire about foreign tour packages while V. Kumar (49), a businessman, was looking for pan India pilgrimage package and held discussion with a number of tour operators. N. Hanumantha Rao (66), a retired bank employee, said he was looking for Singapore tour package.

There were 18 stalls put up by leading travel operators. Roshan, travel bag and suitcase manufacturer, has put up a stall.

Visitors to the expo will get a chance to win $20 Changi transit reward vouchers for every single purchase. Free passes to TrickEye Museum and Resorts World Sentosa Singapore will also be available. Lucky visitors can win tickets to Singapore.

Sanjay Cherian, sales manager of SilkAir, Chennai, was also present.

SilkAir is the presenting sponsor, powered by Roshan. Other sponsors are Changi Airport, Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa Singapore and TrickEye Museum.

The event is an initiative by THEME- The Hindu Group Events, Meets and Experiences.
