Owler India Pvt. Limited, based at the Tidel Park, finished on top in the Corporate Cricket Cup tournament at the Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology grounds here on Sunday.
Top ten corporate companies in the city fielded their teams for the tournament, which was organised to raise funds for Helping Hearts children home and the South India Consumer Protection Council in Coimbatore.
It was an initiative by Shivam Shetty, a second-year International Baccalaureate student from The International School Bangalore (TISB). Shivam wanted to spend his holiday in a productive manner in Coimbatore and stuck upon this idea of conducting a cricket tournament for the corporate companies here for a good cause.
It did take him about three weeks and a lot of sweat in hosting a tournament of this magnitude but, at the end, he was pretty pleased with his effort.
This is not a first-time effort by the youngster. He had organised a marathon along with his friends in Bangalore and donated the proceeds to an NGO there a couple of months ago.
D. Lakshminarayanaswamy, president of the Coimbatore District Cricket Association, gave away the prizes.
