Tax assessees urged to make use of dispute resolution scheme

The Office of the Principal Commissioner of GST and Central Excise here has urged tax assessees to make use of the Sabka Vishwas scheme to settle legacy disputes.

An official press release said the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs launched the scheme in September and it will be valid till the end of December this year.

Tax assessees can settle pending disputes and arrears during this period. They can visit cbic-gst.gov.in and click on SVLDRS for details.

The Legacy Dispute Resolution Scheme is to help tax payers settle disputes related to legacy Service Tax and Central Excise cases.

Two components

The scheme has two components: dispute resolution and amnesty.

For all cases pending in adjudication or appeal, the scheme offers relief of 70 % from the duty demand if it is ₹50 lakh or less and 50 % of it is more than ₹50 lakh, it said.
