The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has launched a WhatsApp helpline for consumers to register complaints.
Photographs or details of damaged poles, open junction boxes, low hanging power cables, can be sent to 9442111912
This number can be used by consumers in Coimbatore, Tirupur, and the Nilgiris districts and the complaints will be sent to the officials concerned.
The aim of the WhatsApp helpline is to reduce electricity related accidents.
T. Haldorai, chief engineer of Tangedco-Coimbatore region, said there was a complaint from Chandrakanti Nagar on Monday evening and it was addressed on Tuesday.
Two officials are monitoring the complaints and will forward these to Executive Engineers concerned.
The field-level officials will have to inspect, prioritise, and attend to these complaints and report the action taken too.
“We have fixed responsibility on the officials to ensure action is taken,” he said.
Apart from the WhatsApp number, consumers in Coimbatore and Tirupur can use the toll free number 1912 too to register complaints related to power cuts, said a press release.
