Students from India who want to pursue higher studies in the U.K. in computer science are looking at specific and new areas rather than general courses, according to Nico Decourt, senior lecturer from Staffordshire University’s School of Computing. Mr. Decourt was in the city recently.

He said India was strong in Information Technology (IT) environment and software development. Earlier, students who were applying for courses in software were looking at general programmes.

Now, there is a demand for courses in areas such as data sciences, data analytics and networking.

The university was also focusing on new areas and developments in computing. The university’s faculty of computing, engineering and sciences was considering partnerships with Indian institutes. He was hopeful of more students from India joining its programmes next year.
