The city police on Wednesday removed 154 postgraduate students of Government Arts College, including 43 women, who were demanding that the Government provide free laptops to them. At present, the Government is providing free laptop to high school and undergraduate course students.
The students boycotted their classes for the second consecutive day in protest against this. They raised slogans and carried placards. Revenue District Officer S. Shanthakumar held talks with the protesting students, but students remain stuck to their demands. Later, police personnel removed the protestors. They were taken to a marriage hall and were released in the evening.
