‘Steps taken to ensure safe return of marine engineer on board Iranian ship’

Minister for Electricity P. Thangamani visited the family of G. Naveen Kumar, a marine engineer, who was on board Iranian ship arrested by United Kingdom.

Mr. Thangamani assured the family that all necessary steps would be taken by the Tamil Nadu government to ensure safe return of their son.

Talking to presspersons, Mr. Thangamani said, “we met the family following instructions from Chief Minister Edappadi.K.Palaniswami. The State government would take all necessary steps to ensure the safe return of the marine engineer. We have promised the family of all necessary assistance.”

G. Naveen Kumar from Thiruchengode was working as grade-III marine engineer on board the Iranian oil tanker which was later detained by UK for breaching European Union sanctions against Syria.
