The Ramanathapuram police arrested a 32-year-old man who allegedly spat on the face of a woman after she refused to respond to his proposal on Saturday.
S. Jagadeeswaran, resident of a street on Sungam-Ukkadam bypass, was arrested by the police based on the complaint lodged by the 21-year-old woman.
Jagadeeswaran had allegedly waylaid the woman around six months ago and threatened her to love him. However, she did not respond. He waylaid her on Tiruchi Road on Saturday afternoon and repeated his demand.
The man allegedly spat on her face, pulled her hair and verbally abused her as she refused to respond.
Jagadeeswaran was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
