Six wifi hotspots launched in Corpn. limits

Salem Corporation Commissioner R.Sadheesh on Thursday launched six wifi hotspots in the civic body’s limits.

The Corporation has partnered with Mandhira Wifi Tech India Private Limited to introduce the services in Salem.

According to a release, the wifi access points have been set up at Uzhavar Sandhai in Sooramangalam, New Bus Stand, Salem Corporation Commissioner’s office, ‘Smart Tree’ premises next to Corporation, temporary bus stand in Bose Maidan and at Ayyasamy Green Park. Nearly 200 persons can access wifi freely at any moment.

Initially, users will be able to access websites of Salem Corporation and other government sites without providing any login details between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Users visiting other websites can avail themselves of free wifi facility for 60 minutes a day and they can use this continuously or in intervals.

Control room

A control room has been set up in the Corporation office limits and wifi access will be terminated to devices if officials at the control room notice any misuse of the service, the release adds.

Mr. Sadheesh inaugurated the functioning of the facility at Ayyasamy Green Park.
