R. Shyam Sunder from Coimbatore and Suguna Saravanan of The Nilgiris will officiate in the prestigious Nomura Cup at the Yaslinks Golf Course in Abu Dhabi from October 22 to 25.
Amateurs
The Nomura Cup, conducted by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation, is a team event for amateurs among the countries of the Asia Pacific Region.
For Shyam, it is his third international outing as a Rules Official. “I am happy travelling to Abu Dhabi. It is going to be a good learning experience. The rulings are the same but the course markings, course preparation and pin positions are all done more methodically in international tournaments,” said Shyam.
“I have the chance to bring back this experience to the domestic circuit,” he added.
He said it was an opportunity for networking with various officials and, with it, understand the latest happenings and developments in the world of golf.
For Suguna, it is her second appearance. “I am looking forward to the whole experience of being part of a prestigious biennial event which is in its 52nd year. The Middle East flavour just adds to it,” she said.
“It’s going to be pretty useful and I am definitely going to come back with additional experience,’ she added.
