Senior citizens from Arunthathiyar community, hailing from Mayilamparai, Kumutipathi and Rangasamudram, besides Chavadi in Madhukkarai panchayat union have sought old-age pension.

Though they were assured of pension during grievances day programme, it was only on paper.

They are yet to get the assistance, said R. Selvaraj, district secretary of Coimbatore District Agriculture Labourers Association, affiliated to All India Kissan Sangh, here on Monday.

Mr. Selvaraj said that the association has submitted 86 individual petitions to the Collector during the grievances day programme.

Applicants

It appealed to the Collector to verify the eligibility condition of the applicants and ensure OAP to only those eligible.

Plea

The Sakthi Sena of Hindu Makkal Iyakkam has appealed to the Chief Minister to relax the conditions laid down by the police to instal Vinayaka status and also for processions, as most of the conditions are frivolous, said a petition submitted by Manikandan, State Propoganda Secretary.
