Parents of students studying in Standard X in two private matriculation schools in the city had complained that the schools had denied permission to a few students to appear for SSLC Board Examination.
According to S. Gopidoss, Inspector of Matriculation (IMS), the school managements denied them the permission to write examination citing the reason that they were ‘below-average students'. Following the parents' complaints, the officials visited the schools and had found out that the students were eligible to write the examination.
“Strict action would be taken against those resorting to such practices to improve the schools' performance in board exams. This would put students and parents under tremendous pressure and affect them psychologically,” he said.
