School fined ₹20,000 for failure to take anti-dengue measures

A private school at Sona Nagar in the city where construction work is in progress was on Wednesday fined ₹20,000 for failing to take dengue prevention measures.

Collector S.A. Raman inspected areas in Sona Nagar, Mittapudur and Thirumal Nagar to monitor anti-dengue operations and also to check the unhygienic conditions on private premises.

During inspection on a school premises at Sona Nagar, he found water stagnation in tea cups and plastic items and asked officials to remove it immediately.

Also, he found the place a breeding ground for mosquitoes as it was not maintained properly.

He asked corporation officials to levy fine on the school.

City Health Officer K. Parthiban, Corporation Assistant Commissioner K. Baskar and others were present during the inspection.
