Sarngarapuram youth killed in accident

Accident occurred while returning home after handing over his wedding invitations

Balakumar, a resident of N. Sarngarapuram, was killed in an accident on Friday while returning home after handing over his wedding invitations. The police said that the accident occurred when he was returning home from Dharapuram.

He lost control of the vehicle at A. Nagoor and it rammed tree. He died on the spot, the police said.

Two held

The police have arrested two persons and rescued three women in a drive they conducted against flesh trade.

The police said that they had arrested Geetha, the kingpin, and an autorickshaw driver Raja from a house in Vinayagapuram. One of the three women rescued was Geetha’s daughter.

Jewellery burgled

Unidentified persons gained entry into Subbulakshmi’s house at Karamadai and decamped with jewellery weighing four-and-a-half sovereign.

The police said that the incident had happened between 9am and 2pm when the woman was away at her workplace at Periyanaickenpalayam.

Youth held

Following complaints from bus passengers that a youth misbehaved with a school student, the police have arrested Palanisamy of Devarayampalayam.

The police said that he had misbehaved with the girl who was seated in front of him.

Unable to bear his torture, the girl complained to the bus conductor. Passengers caught hold of him and handed him over to the police.

Man killed

Jayakumar, 35, of Valparai, who met with an accident on August 10 in Nanjundapuram succumbed to his injuries on Friday. He was admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

Jewellery burgled

Balajothi, 46, of Shastri Nagar, Rathinapuri, lost her gold chain weighing a sovereign, a gold coin weighing a gram and Rs. 3,000 to burglars who had gained entry into her house by breaking open the rear door.

The incident happened on Friday when Balajothi was away at work.
