Salem city police to create awareness on cyber crimes

261 students from 24 colleges take part in seminar

An awareness seminar on ‘Cyber Crime, Information Security and Cyber Forensics’ was conducted by the city police here on Saturday.

With increase in cyber crimes and to create awareness among the people, the city police have decided to create Cyber Warriors by training students from engineering, information technology and mathematical science.

In turn, the students will educate and create awareness among the people so that they do not fall prey to cyber crime activities.

Inaugurated by City Police Commissioner K. Shankar in the presence of C. Shyamala Devi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime and Traffic, Salem City and N.K. Selvaraj, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, West Range, Salem City, the seminar saw experts detailing on cyber crime and forensics.

Kala Bhaskar, Professor, Cyber Forensics, Madras University, and her team members spoke on personal security, web security, forensics and incident response and malware analysis and reverse engineering while Karthik, Managing Director, Smart Infosec Solutions, Salem, spoke on mobile security and social engineering.

A total of 261 students from 24 colleges took part in the seminar.

Certificates given

They were presented with certificates at the end of the programme.
