Rs. 1 lakh fake currency notes seized

The Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID) here seized counterfeit currencies to the tune of Rs. 1 lakh on Wednesday evening and arrested S. Anbarasu (32), who was carrying it on his bike.

According to sources, a CB-CID team was checking two-wheelers near the bus depot at Sungam on Tiruchi Road when they checked the bike of Anbarasu of Chengam, Tiruvannamalai district. The team found the currencies in the bog on the tank cover. Inquiries revealed that Anbarasu had obtained Rs. 5,000 from Baskar of Tirupur to take the counterfeit notes to Coimbatore. He was supposed to hand it over to a man with a particular identity near the railway junction.
