Revenue officials stopped eight child marriages in a week in Dharmapuri

The District Collector Ms. R. Lilly said in a release that as many as eight child marriages were stopped with in a week.

The release said that the revenue officials stopped two marriages in Dharmapuri taluk, two in Palacode, two in Harur and three marriages in Pappireddipatti taluks.

The marriages were stopped after the concerned Tahsildhar’s conducted enquiry with the parents of the bride grooms.

All the eight parents of the bride grooms were counselled by the Collector and an affidavit was signed by them. The parents were warned that if they violate the affidavit filed with the collector, they will be punished as per the law of the land through the police department.
