The City Municipal Corporation has asked the owners of vacant land and plots to remove bushes, garbage and stagnated water from their plots within a week failing which the civic body would clean the plots and establish parks for public use.

A press release from the Corporation Commissioner R. Sadheesh said that the civic body is taking various steps to prevent outbreak of communicable diseases for which over 3,000 field workers are involved. The release said that 750 workers are carrying out works in residential areas on a daily basis. These include door-to-door garbage collection, desilting of drains and waterways and spraying of insecticide to control mosquitoes.

Mr. Sadheesh said that there are many vacant plots found in the corporation area where rain water stagnates, garbage dumped is by the people and bushes found in large quantities. Since poor sanitation would lead to outbreak of diseases, the owners of the plots were asked many times to clean their lands immediately. However, many failed to clean the plots and maintain it properly.

“It is a major concern for ensuring sanitation,” the Commissioner said and asked them to clean it. The release warned that if the plots are not maintained property, the corporation would clean the plots and establish parks, community halls or sports ground in the lands and open it for public use. “If violations are found, fine would be levied on owners apart from initiating action,” he warned.
