Actor-turned politician and Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan accused the Centre and the State of speaking according to their convenience in the release of seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case and wanted the Tamil Nadu Governor to take a decision.

On this issue, both the Governments had been speaking according to their convenience.

Hence, the Governor should end this, he said while talking to reporters at Coimbatore.

An MNM functionary Balamurugan of Palladam died recently, and his wife petitioned the Election Commission, seeking to prevent Mr. Haasan from campaigning in Sulur.

Responding to a query on this, Mr. Haasan said it did not seem like the voice of a woman who had lost her husband, and suspected someone else to be behind the move.
