Pumps to Kerala from Coimbatore

The manufacturers of pumpsets here are sending pumpsets to drain water from flooded areas and houses in Kerala.

V. Krishna Kumar, president of Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association, said about 75 pumps will be sent from here in a day or two through the Coimbatore Corporation. These are mainly to drain water from the open wells. The pumps will be sent to Wayanad and capacity of the pumps has been decided based on the power supply availability.

Apart from this, several individual companies have also sent pumps and relief materials, he said.

CRI Pumps has sent two vehicles with two 20 HP pumps and four support staff to Wayanad, as requested by Coimbatore Corporation. Each can pump one lakh litres of water an hour. On Tuesday, a 56 HP pump was sent with a capacity to pump four lakh litres an hour.

The Kozhikode team of CRI Pumps will co-ordinate the dewatering operations at Wayanad, according to the company.
