PUCL calls for releasing Rajiv assassination convicts without delay

People’s Union for Civil Liberties (Tamil Nadu and Puducherry) has urged Governor Banwarilal Purohit to release the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case without further delay.

In a press release issued here on Monday, its president Gana. Kurinji and secretary R. Murali said that various steps had been taken in the past either to reduce the sentence or to release the convicts who were lodged in the prison for over 28 years. However, all the efforts failed in the past while the release of the convicts by using Article 161 has given hope to all.
