Seeking justice: Medical students staging a demonstration at the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital in Chennai on Thursday, demanding stringent punishment for the accused in the Pollachi sexual abuse case.

K. Thirunavukkarasu (27), the main accused in Pollachi sexual abuse case, was interrogated by the Crime Branch CID (CB-CID) sleuths for the third day at an undisclosed location here on Sunday.

After four days of custodial interrogation, the CB-CID team will produce the accused before the court on Monday, seeking to extend his remand period.

Sources privy to the investigation said that the accused was reluctant to reveal much about the alleged sexual abuse incident, for which he and three others were arrested, and also his alleged involvement in sexually abusing and blackmailing several other women.

Inspected

Senior CB-CID officials, including Inspector General of Police C. Sridhar, Superintendent of Police Nisha Parthiban and Deputy Superintendent of Police R. Muthusamy interrogated Thirunavukkarasu since Friday. The CB-CID sleuths have also videographed his statements during the interrogation and inspected his house and a farm house near Pollachi.

The CB-CID team is likely to file a petition before the court on Monday seeking the custody of the remaining three accused arrested in the case namely N. Sabarirajan (25) aka Rishwanth, N. Sathish (29), and T. Vasanthakumar (24).

Coimbatore Rural Police, which investigated the case earlier, had faced criticism for not having sought the custody of any of the four accused for interrogation. Thirunavukkarasu is the only accused whom the investigators of the case have so far interrogated in custody.
