Police receive bomb threat letter

The Coimbatore police are inquiring a differently abled youth of the city in connection with a bomb threat letter that they received on Thursday.

A senior official said that the Ramanathapuram Police Station received a letter stating that pro-Maoists were planning to plant bombs in about 10 places in the city on August 15 to avenge the arrests of Maoist leader Roopesh, his wife Shyna and other Maoist sympathisers.

Mobile number

The letter had a mobile number which was traced to Rajesh, a polio victim and a resident of Vilankurichi Road near Peelamedu.

A senior police officer said that Rajesh (28), was a polio victim and the police are suspecting foul play.

Police are conducting investigations.
