As many as 200 police personnel donated their blood during a special camp held at Armed Reserve Police Grounds at Anaikalpalayam here on Friday.

Superintendent of Police S. Sakthi Ganesan, who inaugurated the camp, said that blood donation helps in maintenance of good health and reduces risk of cancer and other diseases. He said that the donated blood will be of help to the needy and appreciated the personnel for voluntary donation of blood.

A team of doctors from the blood bank at the District Headquarters Hospital collected the blood.

Officials said that various measures were taken to ensure that the police personnel continue to stay fit. They said that the weekly-off system implemented for women policemen in the district from May 26 has helped them spend time with their family members.

Of the total 311 women police, 300 were given weekly-offs on a rotation basis so that the law and order or traffic management was not affected. They added that health screening camps would also be organised regularly for policemen and women.

Namakkal

Police personnel in Salem and Namakkal donated blood as part of a State-wide blood donation camp. In Salem, 120 police personnel donated blood at the camp organised on the premises of City police Commissioner’s office here.
