Even as the Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR) weekend special train service from Udhagamandalam to Ketti is enjoying good patronage, the Southern Railway has announced special trains between Mettupalayam and Udhagamandalam from July in the section.
In a press release, the Southern Railway said that Train No. 06171/06172 Mettupalayam – Udhagamandalam – Mettupalayam special train will have four coaches with 172 seats, comprising 72 first class seats and 100 second class seats.
The service will begin from Mettupalayam on July 6 and will continue till September 28 and from July 7 to September 29 in Udhagamandalam.
There will be a total of 26 services, with Mettupalayam and Udhagamandalam having 13 services each, the release said.
This will enable more tourists/passengers to experience the joy of travelling in NMR, it added.
