Citing inclement weather conditions, the Salem Division of Southern Railway cancelled train services running on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) section till November 24.
An official release on Tuesday said that Train No. 56136/56137 passenger train between Mettupalayam and Udhagamandalam would be cancelled from November 20 to November 24. Train No. 06171 and Train No. 06172 NMR special trains between Mettupalayam and Udhagamandalam would be cancelled on November 23 and November 24 respectively.
A railway official said the trains on NMR section were running on Monday and Tuesday and the cancellation would come to effect from Wednesday. Although the boulders and debris were cleared from the tracks, the weather conditions were not conducive for operation of trains.
