More bus service needed

Petition submitted during grievances redress meeting

Residents of several areas here have urged the district administration to increase the bus services in keeping with the increasing population of Coimbatore.

In a petition submitted to District Collector Archana Patnaik during the public grievances redress meeting held at Collectorate on Monday, social activist R.M. Selvaraj said that 1-C bus service, operating on Tiruchi Road, must be extended to Pappampatti. The bus service No: 2, operating on Avanashi Road, must be extended to Neelambur and Kalappati; the bus service no: 3 must be extended to Saravanampatti and Kurumbapalayamm; and bus service no: 4 to NGO colony.

Grace marks

A group of autorickshaw drivers, in a petition, said that grace marks should be provided to candidates who take Elementary School Leaving Certificate (ESLC) examinations.

T.R. Ramesh Kumar, an autorickshaw driver, said that clearing Standard VIII has been made mandatory to get a driving licence.

Many drivers were aged between 35 and 55.
