Modi to visit Coimbatore today

The city police have tightened security in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Coimbatore on Tuesday.

The police have taken control of the Codissia Grounds, the venue for public meeting. As per the schedule, Mr. Modi will arrive at Coimbatore airport between 6.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in a chopper from Mysuru. At the public meeting, Mr. Modi will campaign for the NDA candidates contesting from the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Tiruppur and Erode districts.

Mr. Palaniswami, senior leaders of the AIADMK, BJP and other coalition parties from Tamil Nadu, will take part in the meeting.

After the meeting, Mr. Modi will leave Coimbatore in a scheduled aircraft around 8 p.m.

Traffic restrictions will be effective between airport junction (Sitra) and Codissia road junction on Avinashi Road at the time of the arrival and departure of the Prime Minister.
