Mettur dam full for the fourth time this year

The water level of the Stanley Reservoir of Mettur dam attained the ‘Full Reservoir Level’ (FRL) for the fourth time this year on Monday night.

According to Public Works Department (PWD) officials, the water level at the Reservoir was at the FRL of 120 ft at 11.10 p.m on Monday night. The stored capacity of water in the dam was 93,470 mcft (million cubic feet) and inflow to the dam was 20,000 cusecs on Monday night.

On Tuesday, the inflow increased over 1,000 cusecs, and was at 21,946 cusecs of water. A total of 20,000 cusecs of water was let to River Cauvery and 600 cusecs was let through the East-West Canal.

According to PWD officials, the Reservoir has earlier recorded FRL on September 7 and 24 and on October 23 this year.
