Man murders wife

Rangasamy (55) of Alamaramedu near Anaikatti reportedly slit the throat of his wife Pappathi (44) in a fit of rage, suspecting her fidelity.

Father of two sons, Rangasamy used to pick quarrels with his wife frequently.

On Thursday, Rangasamy reportedly slit her throat and fled from the scene. Police have registered a case.

Investigations are on.

Air horns removed

Transport Department officials on Friday conducted surprise checks and removed 39 air horns from 18 Government and 21 private buses plying on Mettupalayam Road.

Two hospitalised

Johi (62) and Krishnan (55) of Kotagiri, who came to attend a function in their relatives’ house, fell ill after consuming acid mistaking it for liquor. Both were rushed to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

Lecturer killed

in accident

Deepak (28), a lecturer in a polytechnic college near Eachanari, was killed when the moped he was riding on was knocked down by a truck near bypass road. Deepak from Annadanapatti in Salem had come to Coimbatore six months ago to work as lecturer in a polytechnic college. He was also taking private tuitions for students. On Friday morning, he was on his way to a student’s house in Chettipalayam on his moped when the accident took place. The truck ran over the head of the victim causing instant death.

Man arrested

S. Mohandas (30) of Finger Post in Udhagamandalam, who is already married and has a child, was arrested on charges of hiding his marital status and marrying a 17-year-old minor girl. Following a complaint from the girl’s parents, Udhagamandalam police arrested him on Friday.
